Ah, The Joys Of Editing!
Editing--eek! :)
I did let my ideas simmer for awhile before I started my first edit of my manuscript. Sometimes simmering on the stove works very well, and it did this time, too. I'm close to halfway through the process while making new notes. I'd studied my old notes and incorporated the changes requested and while I have a long way to go, I'm pleased at my progress. I'd guess that this first go-round will be slowest because once major changes are made, things can go quicker.
I tend to work linear, going chapter-by-chapter, but if I hit a chapter that requires extensive re-writing I'll set it aside and return to it. It's like taking a test: quickly answer the questions you know and then go back and puzzle over the knotty ones.
I love using the track feature in Word! I've used it before but never for a project this size. And I just got another e-mail from a reader of my fanfic asking me about when my book would be ready. Ha! Well, it will be a bit of time, won't it? But people's interest keeps me going!

Thanks, D.M.! :) I'm very excited about the project. The novel is getting stronger as I edit and that's a very good feeling, indeed. Hmm, gotta spice up a few chapters, eh? ;)
