Website Moves & Other News

We have one of those bad news turned to good news weeks. The bad news is that the web host service we have used for the last couple years had a massive fail. They've had them before and we almost left lasts time. Except that they said they had cleaned up and that if we went to a dedicated servicer it wouldn't happen again. Well, it was different this time, it was worse. Not only did the websites go down (not just ours, but thousands), but so did our email service. And then, to top it all off, while they claimed all issues "resolved" – they had accidently deleted all the items in our dozen or so email inboxes. They are claiming they can't do anything about it. We're still working on that portion, but there is some possibility that they really were that incompetent.

The good news is that we had already been researching and planning to move to a different server host when we completed our site rebuild. So, we changed the order of the plan to move first, then finish the rebuild. This weekend, our IT department will be working on moving both websites and our mail will be moving to the new provider. That means, beginning from the sending of this email/post until we a follow up email/post, the site will not save new posts. We are backing it up and moving it to the new server. The web-addresses will be the same as will our email addresses, but they will be unreliable until the move it complete.

If you need to get a hold of us over the weekend, use: forbiddenfictionpub at gmail.com. If it's something that can wait a couple days, we suggest you hold it until we post the all clear message. (Yes, that includes folks waiting to hear back about submissions too. Submissions was one of the few email addresses not affected by the data loss because we had it backed up separately.)
